The World Habitat Day declared by the United Nations in 1985, has as goal for us to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all people to adequate shelter. Today World Habitat Day 2025, Cameroon joins the global call under the theme “Urban Crisis Response”

In Cameroon rapid urbanization in cities like Yaoundé, Douala, Limbe and Buea has exposed challenges such as: poor/insufficient drainage systems, informal settlements, flood during heavy rains and unreliable services.

Through the efforts of some Non Governmental Organizations (NGO), Local Community Youth Groups, “Njangi Houses” and Community initiatives, there has been a constant push and actionable steps to curb the current challenges faced with urbanization. CEDAR-COM has over time through partnership with other local organizations engage in clean up campaigns within the communities to help mitigate some of these challenges.

CEDAR-COM partners with CBS Radio Buea to clean up gutters and promote clean environment.

Let us continue supporting solutions and being part of the response that build cities for today and the future.
