PRESDIET

“Is your feeding affecting your health? PRESDIET is here to transform lives through nutrition.”

The PRESDIET initiative, launched under the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC), aims to enhance community health through improved dietary practices. With funding secured through CEDAR-COM’s resource mobilization efforts, the Presbyterian Diagnostic Urgent Care Hospital (PDUCH) has established a dedicated unit focused on delivering comprehensive nutritional and dietetic services tailored to meet individual patient needs. This project is a testament to CEDAR-COM’s commitment to fostering healthier communities through better eating habits and nutritional awareness.

The primary objective of the PRESDIET project is to provide a wide range of quality nutritional and dietetic services that promote healthier eating habits within the community. By implementing a structured dietetic healthcare program, PRESDIET aims to improve patient outcomes, enhance recovery rates, and build trust in healthcare services.

In many communities, poor dietary habits contribute significantly to health issues, leading to chronic diseases and diminished quality of life. There is a pressing need for accessible nutritional guidance and support to address these challenges. Many individuals lack the knowledge and resources necessary to make informed dietary choices, resulting in a cycle of health complications that can be difficult to break.

The PRESDIET initiative has already made a significant impact on the community

Over 60 patients are currently benefiting from routine, high-quality nutritional and dietetic care at the PDUCH facility. Presdiet offers a wide range of services to patients and communities including; Nutritional and dietary counseling, Nutritional and Dietary managements, personalized meal plans and the presence of a dietetic restaurant to ensure patients can adhere to their meal plans and supplements irrespective of whether they are admitted in the hospital or not.

  • The acquisition of modern diagnostic equipment has enabled healthcare providers to deliver precise and effective dietetic care.

  • The introduction of motor bikes for mobility and food packaging containers has facilitated the delivery of services directly to patients’ homes and local community groups. Patients can readily receive their prescribes supplements, dietary nuts and seeds, dietary drinks, dietary teas and dietary feeds supplied by PRESDIET with full adherence to quality assurance.
  • Long-term access to the dietetic unit has reinforced patient confidence and health outcomes, leading to faster recovery rates and increased loyalty to healthcare services.

  • CEDAR-COM has played a pivotal role in the success of the PRESDIET initiative through resource mobilization by Successfully securing funding for the establishment and operation of the dietetic unit at PDUCH. Moreover, the supervision and provision of technical support in setting up PRESDIET which provides diagnostic and dietary services which aligns with best practices for the community is evidence of CEDAR’s commitment to accessible and affordable health care for the community. This clearly strengthens CEDAR-COM’s main pillar of HEALTH.
